A severe weather threat is setting up for this weekend from portions of Missouri and eastern Kansas into the South, with the potential for damaging winds and large hail, although an isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out.

Strong winds—gusting up to 40 mph—may also impact much of the northern tier, potentially causing travel delays in major hubs like New York and Chicago.
